  • Take notes and write down any additional questions that you have.
  • Discuss additional questions and do additional research if needed.
  • Study the Bible¬†first and most, then consult commentaries as needed.

Open Discussion:

  • What does God’s Sovereignty mean to you?
  • How far does God’s Sovereignty go?¬†(for example, does it ever supplant man’s free-will?

Read Genesis 18:

  • Why did God feel the need to tell Abraham His plans?
  • Why did Abraham feel comfortable with bargaining with God?
  • Why did God agree to Abraham’s deal?
  • What does this passage tell you about God’s Sovereignty?

Read Jonah:

  • Why did Jonah run from God?
  • Why did God pursue Jonah?
  • Why did God spare Jonah?
  • What does this passage tell you about God’s Sovereignty?

Read Matthew 26:36-46:

  • Why was Jesus comfortable with asking God to change His mind and to take this burden from Jesus?
  • Why did God not take the burden away from Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus surrender to God’s will?
  • What does this passage tell you about God’s Sovereignty?

*Read additional material as you feel led. However, make sure that you weigh it against God’s Word.

*Compile your findings and write down a one sentence statement that summarizes your belief concerning God’s Sovereignty.
